Your Adoption Letter to your MP or candidates

  • Dear…[Simpol will fill this in for you]…………………….MP/MP Candidate
  • I am a supporter and “Adopter” of a growing global organisation called Simpol. Therefore-
    • • I have imagined a better world. I have chosen to take part in creating it. I intend to make sure it happens and as quickly as possible.
    • • I will be using the power of my vote to drive countries to work together to solve global problems such as climate change, environmental destruction, poverty, war and injustice.
    • • I believe in democracy. Myself and others who are living in countries already affected by global policies should be empowered to say what those policies are.
    • • For global power to be safe, I think it should be in the hands of the many, not the few, so I am taking responsibility for the world’s problems alongside the rest of humanity by simply…
  • Voting at future national elections for ANY politician or party –within reason- who pledges to implement Simpol alongside other governments. Or, if I have a party preference, I will encourage my party to sign the Simpol Pledge.
  • It may be that we are working for very similar goals. Together, we can remove the barriers to change and encourage the rest of the world to join in. Therefore, I would like to invite you to take the opportunity to sign the Simpol Pledge. If you do it is much more likely you will receive my vote at the next general election.
  • For a Simpol Pledge Form please go to www.simpol.org.uk/toolkit
  • I look forward to hearing from you.
  • Yours sincerely…

What politicians who have pledged to implement Simpol are saying about it:

“We live together at once, on the same small planet. There are some things we should do together, at once, on this same small planet. The compelling logic of Simpol is really collective common sense—it’s a campaign to find out how common sense really is!”  Lembit Opik, Liberal Democrat MP

“Simpol is a serious initiative aimed at addressing global problems based on international co-operation. Any initiative with such progressive aims deserves support.” Adam Price, Plaid Cymru MP

“Personally, I think Simpol is a very exciting initiative, and one that is badly needed in today’s world of increasing disillusionment and apathy. It’s vital that people know that they can make a difference – and Simpol offers an important way of doing that.” Caroline Lucas, Green Party Leader and MEP

“The forces of globalisation are making the world effectively a smaller place. It is increasingly necessary to act together internationally to tackle the problems we face at home. Simultaneous action on issues such as climate change, fair trade, immigration, terrorism and health pandemics is the ideal means of resolving them.” Jim Knight, Labour MP

“If the world can act together to tackle global issues then the greater the chance of success.”  Philip Hollobone, Conservative MP

What Simpol Adopters are saying:

“Politicians talk about global co-operation; let’s make sure it happens but with people at
the centre of it.”
Aisha Hannibal, Simpol Adopter

“At the end of the day, the only way is together” Jimothy Arbon, Simpol Adopter

Politicians saying the right things; let’s make sure they sign the Simpol Pledge:

”Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.” Barack Obama, US President

“I believe that we need new ways of reaching out… New ways of listening to people…New ways of consulting on new ideas… New ways of engaging… And thus new ways of building our democracy for the future.” Gordon Brown, UK Prime Minister

“And yes, we need global co-operation. But that shouldn’t be difficult. It just takes leadership.” David Cameron MP, Conservative Party Leader

“Global co-operation is the best – I believe the only – answer…to dig our world back out of recession…to create the growth, trade, and international rules we need for a fairer, greener, safer planet.” Nick Clegg, Liberal Democrat Party Leader

“…democratic institutions need to be built from the bottom up not just the top down.” “…
the world needs global alliances and institutions to address global threats.” David Miliband MP, UK Secretary of State
