Simpol’s Call to Work Together
Dear ………………………………………………Parliamentary Candidate
I have become an “Adopter” of a fast growing global organisation called Simpol.
- I imagine a better, more co-operative world where countries work together to solve urgent global problems – problems like climate change, financial injustice, war and poverty.
I choose to take part in creating that world. I intend to make sure it happens as quickly as possible. - I am aware that countries are prevented from solving global problems because tighter regulations in one country would mean business, jobs and investment moving to other, less regulated countries. Therefore, we need countries to work co-operatively with one another. That’s why Simpol Adopters around the world will be using our votes to make sure they do.
- I believe in democratic participation. Supporting Simpol empowers me to help shape global policies, policies which are already affecting people everywhere.
- So, by supporting Simpol, I am taking responsibility, alongside the rest of humanity, for solving the world’s problems. This means I will be…
‘voting in all future national elections for any politician or party -within reason*- who has pledged to implement Simpol’s global policies, in partnership with other governments. Or, if I have a party preference, I will encourage that candidate to sign the Simpol Pledge.’
Together we can remove the barriers to change and encourage the rest of the world to join in. Therefore, I would like you, as a parliamentary candidate for my constituency to take this opportunity to sign the Simpol Pledge. If you do, it is much more likely you will receive my vote at the general election.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely

What Simpol Pledged politicians are saying:
“We live together at once, on the same small planet. There are some things we should do together, at once, on this same small planet. The compelling logic of Simpol is really collective common sense—it’s a campaign to find out what common sense really is.”
Lembit Opik MP, Liberal Democrat
“Personally, I think Simpol is a very exciting initiative, and one that is badly needed in today’s world of increasing disillusionment and apathy. It’s vital that people know that they can make a difference – and Simpol offers an important way of doing that.”
Caroline Lucas MEP, Green Party Leader
“The forces of globalisation are making the world effectively a smaller place. It is increasingly necessary to act together internationally to tackle the problems we face at home. Simultaneous action on issues such as climate change, fair trade, immigration, terrorism and health pandemics is the ideal means of resolving them.”
Jim Knight MP, Labour
“If the world can act together to tackle global issues then the greater the chance of success.”
Philip Hollobone MP, Conservative
“Simpol is a serious initiative aimed at addressing global problems based on international co-operation. Any initiative with such progressive aims deserves support.”
Adam Price MP, Plaid Cymru
What politicians who are yet to pledge are saying:
“Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.”
Barack Obama, US President
“I believe that we need new ways of reaching out… New ways of listening to people…New ways of consulting on new ideas… New ways of engaging… And thus new ways of building our democracy for the future.”
Gordon Brown, UK Prime Minister
“And yes, we need global co-operation. But that shouldn’t be difficult. It just takes leadership.”
David Cameron MP, Conservative Party Leader
“Global co-operation is the best –I believe the only– answer…to dig our world back out of recession…to create the growth, trade, and international rules we need for a fairer, greener, safer planet.”
Nick Clegg, Liberal Democrat Party Leader
