MPs On Board

How many Simpol Adopters does it take to screw in an MP’s light bulb? Not as many as you might think. Through Adopting Simpol, we really can make our collective will acted upon. On average it takes a few more than one, but evidence shows that Adopting Simpol really is power to your elbow.

Check to see if your MP has signed up and if not then you can write to them and encourage them to do so. If you are an MP, MP candidate, an MEP or an MEP candidate please click here for Simpol Pledge forms found in the Toolkit page.

“The Simultaneous Policy creates the possibility of multilateral action towards a better world. I’m supporting it on the basis that its aims are good and the policies are still being developed. Once completed, I hope Simpol ’s policies will give citizens more control over their governments, rather than some of the initial drafts which seem the other way around.”

Who has signed the pledge in your European Parliament constituency?

Pledges from sitting MEPs
last update:
21/02/05
Politicians, whether sitting MEPs or candidates at elections, are invited to sign the pledge to implement the Simultaneous Policy alongside other governments when all, or sufficient, other governments have made the same pledge. You can encourage politicians in your constituency to support Simpol.See the list of constituencies below to see who has signed the Simpol Pledge.

London

Claude Moraes MEP, Labour
Signed the pledge: 21 February 2005
Comment in support of Simpol:

“I am signing up to the Simultaneous Policy Pledge because I believe that international cooperation in this one area is in principle beneficial globally. If policies are adopted by the group in future with which I dont agree then I would have to withdraw my support.”

South-East England

Caroline Lucas MEP, Green Party
Signed the pledge: 8 June 2004
Comment in support of Simpol:

“Personally, I think Simpol is a very exciting initiative, and one that is badly needed in today’s world of increasing disillusionment and apathy. It’s vital that people know that they can make a difference – and Simpol offers an important way of doing that.”

This isn’t a complete list of constituencies – if yours is not listed it means we haven’t received a Simpol Pledge yet, so please keep writing to your politicians! If your MEPs have signed (you have more than one), send a message welcoming this, as well as encouraging candidates from other parties to sign. Or if you have a preferred party and its representative hasn’t signed then encourage them to do so.

To send an email to your MEPs you can use the Letter to MEPs found in Tool Kit and find their details at  www.writetothem.com
