You decide
How to make a policy suggestion?
First take a look at existing people’s policy suggestions. If you don’t see your policy idea there, ask yourself if it’s something that probably needs global co-operation? Or is it something any country could implement on its own? If it requires widespread global co-operation and simultaneous action, then it’s likely to qualify. If you are not sure and the argument is not certain either way then please suggest it anyway.
Gaining support
Next, you’ll need at least 9 other Adopters to support your idea for it to be included in the next Annual Policy Vote. So why not discuss it with other Simpol Adopters by joining our global policy discussion list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/simpolicies-general/ and seek their input and support.
When you’ve got sufficient support for your policy, submit your suggestion by filling out this form or get in contact.
Once your suggestion has been submitted and ten people support it, it will be publicised to all Adopters through the website and through our newsletter, It’s Simpol!. It will also be added to the Simpol Policy Forum so other Adopters can ask you questions about it or make suggestions for amendments.
Policy suggestions that receive strong support in the Annual Policy Vote may become the subject of public meetings held by Simpol-UK in order to further promote them and to attract wider public attention.

The word is global
Policy development presently takes place on a global basis amongst all Adopters. But as our numbers grow, we’ll be organising national processes to ensure the differing perspectives of Adopters in different countries are taken into account.
Building Global Consensus
When, at some future point, support for Simpol becomes widespread amongst citizens and governments and the prospect of implementation comes into view, a negotiation amongst all national Simpol organisations will take place to determine Simpol’’s final policy content and its implementation timetable. This will include any national exemptions and compensations needed to reflect the differing needs and abilities of each country.
Local Simpol Groups around the world are contributing to this process by connecting to discuss how global problems affect them locally and they are coming up with global solutions. This brings us together for the good of all. Simpol is unity in diversity.
Policy development is overseen by a Global Policy Committee which is elected by all Adopters annually. Committee members don’t decide on policy but only oversee the policy process to ensure it remains democratic, open, and meets Adopters’ evolving needs.
Global Referendum
Adopting Simpol is a powerful way for citizens to use their votes to drive politicians towards implementing global solutions. But to enure that power is not abused by a minority, Simpol’s Founding Declaration states that Simpol’s policy cannot be implemented without the support of at least a majority of citizens in all democratic countries, whether they may be Adopters or not.
Such a referendum would, of course, only take place once support for Simpol was widespread, both amongst citizens and governments. By that time, then, implementing Simpol would be likely to be supported by a majority of citizens and it is likely, then, that a majority of citizens would, by that time, be Adopters in any case.
